Hi I am Rhonda and I live in the small coastal community of Yeppoon which is part of the beautiful Capricorn Coast in Central Queensland. It is situated about 42km from Rockhampton.
I first became aware of Ageless Grace through my interaction in the NIA community. I was intrigued by the benefits that Ageless Grace could have for people through simple and fun movements whilst sitting on a chair and listening to music. I also loved the inclusivity of the program. No matter what your age, shape or physical capability one can participate, have fun and embrace the health and wellbeing benefits of Ageless Grace.
I am relatively new in the Ageless Grace space, having completed my training in Brisbane in September 2016. I am however not new to the joy of movement and have always loved moving my body to music and having fun with my imagination. When I was little I used to dream of being a ballerina, travelling the world, performing to large audiences. I would jump around our living room and visualize my grand performance wearing a beautiful tutu.
I grew up in an extended Family in in the historic town of Maryborough Queensland and had the privilege of being raised by not only my parents, but my grandparents and a great grandmother. I used to love listening to my great grandmother play the piano whilst I sang quite loudly and proudly along. I still love listening to the stories of older people and value the skills and knowledge of my elders. Younger generations have so much to learn from the life lessons of their elders. Keeping older people active so they can share these gifts with others is another reason why I like Ageless Grace, as it is a fun way to help sustain and rejuvenate ones physical, cognitive and mental wellbeing.
On the work front, I am a qualified Social Worker and am currently working in the mental health area for a not for profit organisation. I have also spent many years working in community development / community services stream for several Local Government agencies as well as the youth and disability sectors.
I am passionate about social inclusion and people participating in community life. I see Ageless Grace as a tool that can assist people to continue to participate in life and enjoy the sensation of moving their bodies, whilst having fun with others.
Outside of standard business hours, I am available to run Ageless Grace classes at events, workshops, community service and seniors facilities, and as regular classes should there be a group of people in the Capricorn/Rockhampton area wanting to engage in Ageless Grace (re early morning, evening or weekends).
